- you were the only thing that i would tie myself to -

I like this kind of weather - warm enough to wander around without wrapping up in layers of scarves and hats and mittens and heavy, tall boots. The robins are coming back to this part of the world, and I am happy to see them! I saw my first one of the season last night, as a friend and I meandered around the neighbourhood and caught up on life, the universe, and everything (walks are good for that).

And today? Today is my birthday! (A big number by some counts, but something tells me this is going to be a good year. Maybe not less tumultuous, maybe not without its challenges, but a good year.)

Last year was solid, if challenging - I learned a lot and did a lot of growing up. Some of it probably overdue, some of it premature, but all in all I can look back and smile at it. Retrospection has a way of softening the light of memories; smoothing over edges and pinpricks until you remember what you learned and not (always) the blood or tears shed along the way.

So here's to what I learned - to savor the moment (and the dessert); to love fearlessly; to keep in touch; to keep moving forward; to live.

Let's keep dancing.
